Meet Marcia Code...
Having a diploma from Ontario College of Art, a Bachelor's degree from the University of Guelph, and a B.Ed. from the Teacher's College at the University of Toronto, Marcia Code's background is a perfect compliment to her licensure as a Davis Dyslexia Correction® Facilitator. Throughout her career, Marcia nurtured her interests in Fine Art, Languages, and Psychology. As a teacher of both French and ESL (English as a Second Language), Marcia has worked with all ages — from kindergarten to adults — and truly enjoys facilitating learning. Over the years, however, she was aware that some of her brightest students struggled in specific areas, but she didn't have the answers to help. When her own son began developing an aversion to school, accompanied by headaches and stomachaches, she began to investigate the problem. Reading and writing seemed to trigger his symptoms. During her research, Marcia was stunned to see her son's gifts and challenges described so accurately in Ron Davis' book, "The Gift of Dyslexia." Marcia enrolled him in a Davis Dyslexia Correction® Program, which she describes as a pivotal point in his life. Marcia was so impressed with her son's reading results, as well as his growing self-esteem, that she decided to enroll in the Davis Facilitator Training Program. Becoming a Davis Facilitator was a gift in itself, providing an opportunity for Marcia to share her experience with others and to find such fulfillment in her new career. "The Davis™ Program utilizes the client's creativity to resolve confusions surrounding the use of symbols. It is so empowering for the individual to use their talent to correct their dyslexia and to know they are responsible for this success," says Marcia of her son and her clients. Marcia is proud to operate a full-time practice in Ottawa, Ontario. Expert Testimonies for the Davis Program

Client Testimonials"Things have gotten 1,000 times easier! I used to look at a book and think 'that's a lot of words', but last night I actually read them!"
- Vantage Point Dyslexia Solutions client (age 9) "[Since my Davis™ program] I feel more centered. I have tools, so I can work with words without feeling anxious." - Vantage Point Dyslexia Solutions client (age 55) "I think it is important for you to understand how things were BEFORE Davis to understand how happy we are with AFTER. My 8 year old son has been struggling to read and write since Kindergarten. He is a bright, observant, happy child but it became increasingly more difficult to get him to try. With an IEP in place later in Grade 1, and a teacher whose specialty was early literacy, he was still struggling. We gave up on homework because it would take hours and he would just cry - it wasn't worth it since we were doing more harm than good. By the middle of Grade 2 came the diagnosis from a child psychologist of ADD and LD (what we have come to know as Dyslexia). Finally a diagnosis! We naively thought this would help our son. However, the school system was doing the same things over and over again expecting HIM to give them a different result. It soon became apparent that we would have to do something ourselves. A friend had tried Davis so we decided to give it a shot even though it was a totally different approach. After meeting with Marcia Code our questions were answered and we decided to go ahead. We are so happy we did! After 30 hours of Davis instruction, we have a totally different child! He is able to read with his new tools. He is happy again, more confident, willing to try, and back to his old self. He even shows us how to do it! He reads a story with his Dad every night at bedtime! (Something he could not do before but so wanted to!) His teacher has noticed his confidence has improved at school. After 4 years of school and not much improvement, we see the difference after 30 hours of training. Remarkable! Now we know our son's correct learning style. It shows in all other aspects of his life too! I highly recommend this program for anyone!" - Mother of a Vantage Point Dyslexia Solutions client (age 8) |
